Oxted Runners Inclusion Policy

 

Purpose and Definition

Inclusion for the purposes of this Policy means access for all within a framework. It means recognising the differences between individuals and groups and providing them with opportunities to participate in running regardless of the differences whether as a participant, leader or Committee Member.

Oxted Runners running club embraces diversity and difference and is committed to providing running activities that are inclusive, accessible and equitable within the framework regardless of age, disability, gender, race, ethnicity, sexuality or social / economic status.

Commitment,  Values and Actions

Oxted Runners will develop a focus on inclusion and ensure that it provides appropriate advice to members to ensure that everyone can participate as fully as is possible.

This Inclusion Policy is intended to improve opportunities for all members to participate. We will seek to ensure that we comply with the Equality Act 2010 and the characteristics protected by it ( age, disability, gender reassignment, race, religion or belief, sex, sexual orientation, marriage, civil partnership and pregnancy and maternity ) and encourage our members to do so also.

We will:

  • Not tolerate discrimination, harassment, bullying or victimisation
  • Consult with expert partners and organisations to ensure we facilitate inclusive practices
  • Provide opportunities for all in run leading, coaching and leadership positions
  • Provide a welcoming environment

We will, so far as is reasonably possible consult with prospective individuals about their needs and requirements.

We will be able to demonstrate that every reasonable effort has been made to enable everyone to participate.

Aims

Our aim is to provide an environment where everyone feels:

  • Welcome
  • Represented, 
  • Included in Decision Making,
  •  Able to Participate
  • Safe from discrimination,  bullying, harassment and vilification
