East Grinstead 10K 2015

Race Report

There was a good turnout from our members for the Annual Club Championship, and this year it was a new venue at East Grinstead, the Andy Ripley Memorial 10k, run by EG Athletic Club. It was a beautiful day to enjoy this off-road course. Race headquarters was at Imberhome School, which had plenty of parking and toilets and where we collected our Chip. The start line was well organized, and after a lap around the school fields through a narrow gate and path we soon joined a wide road and enabled those who had got boxed in to surge ahead. Once we joined the Worth Way it was flat all the way until we joined the outskirts of East Grinstead though a residential area with the last kilometre ascending up the A22.

The Club excelled in the prizes with Bex Coomber collecting the Ladies prize, Sophie Gibson the female U18 and Andy Irons the M50 prize, a good outcome after a beautiful morning. We had a well deserved post fuel brunch at the Red Barn. We look forward to recommending this event for next year and scooping more prizes again.

Club Chairman, Roger presented the Championship prizes at the AGM.

The ladies winner was Bex Coomber and the age graded winner was Barb Remfry . In second place was Sophie Gibson (not pictured), and she also won the female under 18 category.  Third place was Sarah Lockett.

The men’s winner was Jeremy Carter.  Second was Andy Irons, but as he also won the male age graded prize, the second prize was awarded to Chris Wilson.  Third prize was awarded to Pete Gibson (not pictured).
