Winter Runs

Home / Club Runs / Winter Runs

The main club run takes place on Tuesday evenings and during the winter utilises a regular 5 mile road route around the lit streets of Limpsfield and Oxted.  On Thursday evenings, a smaller group meets and explores alternative road routes. Subject to demand, sometimes others participate in a variety of training routines to boost speed.  To spice things up during the dark winter months we organise monthly handicap runs, pairs runs, reverse route runs, off-road torch-lit runs on Limpsfield Chart, and generally do whatever we can to make running through the winter months a more pleasurable experience.

Tuesday evenings

During the winter to try and keep our enthusiasm going through the dark evenings, the club have developed a series of activities for Tuesday evenings:

FIRST Tuesday of month (except February) – Winter route CLOCKWISE, followed by social drinks in the Club Bar
SECOND Tuesday of month (except November) – Winter route in REVERSE
THIRD Tuesday of month – Winter route CLOCKWISE, OR alternative Head Torch Run
FOURTH Tuesday of month (except December) – Winter Handicap using the usual clockwise winter route
FIFTH Tuesday of month (September and December) – Winter route CLOCKWISE

SECOND Tuesday in November, FIRST Tuesday in February and the FIFTH in March – “Pairs” run, when we pair the fastest runner with the slowest and they both set off round the winter route in opposite directions until they meet part way round at which point they turn and run back on themselves. The first pair back being declared the winners.

Thursday evenings

Thursday runs will continue to use alternative routes to the Tuesday winter route, usually heading towards Hurst Green.
